ACTIVITIES FOR THE INMATES

In view of the limited capacity of the special persons, they are kept engaged with light mental and physical activities. Their routine at the SBRC includes one or more of the following activities depending upon their individual potential.

  • Class-room Learning

Learning time and money concept, cultivating social skills like greeting and meeting other people, correcting undesirable behavior traits like violence, aggression and self-management to make them self-reliant and fit for some social interaction.

  • Light Sporting Activity

For physical fitness, the inmates are regularly engaged in light non-jerky outdoor sports as per their individual capacities.

  • Self Help & Hygiene Skills

The inmates are kept occupied by engaging them in the self help and hygienic skills for their well being.

  • RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES

For promoting learning as well as recreation, the inmates are trained in dancing and singing by trained staff members. Cultural contests are also being organised to build enthusiasm among them.

  • Working in Sheltered Workshops

In order to develop self-esteem among inmates, they learn and practice certain crafts like candle making, macrom work, book binding, chalk making etc. in sheltered workshops on the premises of SBRC. However, the primary objective is to keep them usefully occupied than to make it a commercial venture.
